Torrential rain and floods hit holiday island of Corfu

Athens - Torrential rain and heavy flooding hit the Greek holiday island of Corfu on Wednesday, causing power outages and widespread damage to towns, reports said.
Officials called a state of emergency on the Ionion island after torrential rain caused extensive damage to homes and vehicles and led to power outages.
Firefighters were called to hundreds of flooded homes to evacuate residents. No one was reported injured.
