The attack occurred in the provincial capital, also called Kunduz, Abdul Rahman Aqtaash, the deputy provincial police chief, said.
'Three German soldiers were injured in the attack and one of the vehicles in the convoy was destroyed,' Aqtaash said.
A German military official in the province also confirmed the attack.
Taliban militants took responsibility for the blast, claiming that the bomb destroyed a military tank and killed all its occupants.
Around 4,500 German soldiers are stationed in the relatively peaceful northern region, which includes Kunduz. Thousands of US troops were dispatched to the region earlier this year to quell an growing insurgency in the northern provinces.
