Medvedev pays tribute to Soviet soldiers during Polish visit
Dec 7, 2010, 10:08 GMT
Warsaw - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev laid flowers Tuesday at a cemetery in Warsaw where the remains of Soviet soldiers are buried as he concluded his two-day trip to Poland intended to improve relations.
The cemetery contains the ashes of some 21,600 Soviet soldiers who died in 1944-45 during fighting in Warsaw against Nazi Germany at the end of World War II.
Medvedev met Monday with Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski and Prime Minister Donald Tusk in what was regarded as a 'milestone' visit that signaled warmer relations ahead.
Medvedev was set to travel Tuesday to Brussels for a Russia-European Union summit.
