Russian president to visit Jordan on Tuesday
Jan 15, 2011, 12:50 GMT
Amman - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is due to arrive in Amman on Tuesday for a two-day working visit in the course of a regional tour, the Jordanian royal court said Saturday.
Medvedev's talks with King Abdullah II are due to focus on the latest developments in the Middle East, 'particularly efforts under way to ensure the resumption of the deadlocked direct talks between the Palestinians and Israel in the run-up for the achievement of the two-state solution,' the statement said.
The discussions will also tackle means for boosting bilateral Jordanian-Russian economic ties.
The Jordanian leadership said it hopes Medvedev might have some pull in breaking the present deadlock in the Arab-Israeli peace process, given Moscow's membership in the Middle East quartet, which also comprises the United States, United Nation and the European Union, diplomats said.
