Feb 4, 2011, 11:00 GMT
Madrid - Spain's King Juan Carlos has given aristocratic titles to 2010 Nobel literature laureate Mario Vargas Llosa and Spanish national football team manager Vicente del Bosque, the state bulletin announced Friday.
Vargas Llosa and del Bosque will have the title of marquis, which is ranked below the title of duke, but above that of count.
Peruvian-born Vargas Llosa was granted the title for his 'extraordinary, universally appreciated contribution' to Spanish-language literature.
Del Bosque, whose team won the football World Cup in South Africa in 2010, had 'fostered sports values,' the bulletin said.
Vargas Llosa and del Bosque will now be addressed as 'your excellency.'
