Marcelino returns to struggling Santander
Feb 9, 2011, 9:35 GMT
Madrid - Spanish first division club Racing Santander announced on Wednesday the appointment of Marcelino Garcia as coach.
Marcelino replaces Miguel Angel Portugal, who was sacked on Monday by Santander's new Indian owner Ali Syed, with the team fifth from bottom in La Liga.
The much-travelled Marcelino, 45, led Santander to a sixth-place finish, and a UEFA Cup berth, in 2008.
Santander are the fifth Liga club to change coach this season, after Sevilla, Malaga, Almeria and Zaragoza.
