Washington - US President Barack Obama said he was 'outraged' over the killing of two US soldiers in Frankfurt's airport Wednesday and vowed to cooperate with the German government to investigate the case.
'I am saddened and I am outraged,' Obama told reporters at the White House.
Obama said the administration was still trying to gather the facts behind the incident.
'We will spare no effort in learning how this outrageous act took place,' he said, offering his condolences to the families of the victims.
The two soldiers died and two were wounded after a Kosovo-man allegedly opened fire on a bus in the airport, German authorities said. It was not yet clear if the attack was politically motivated.
The 21-year-old suspect was taken into custody shortly after fleeing the scene, authorities said.
Klaus Scharioth, the German ambassador to the US, has conveyed his condolences in calls to the White House, State Department and Pentagon, the embassy said.
