Mar 17, 2011, 14:10 GMT
Prague - More than 50 defence contractors and government employees are to face charges in one of the Czech Republic's largest corruption cases to date, state prosecutors in Ceske Budejovice said on Thursday.
Dozens of businessmen and 11 former defence department employees have been accused of manipulating over 12 million euros' worth of state contracts. State prosecutors filed more than 17,000 pages of evidence.
According to the prosecution, government employees including one high-ranking officer received bribes for awarding contracts between 2005 to 2007. Most of the alleged bribes involved construction contracts. If convicted, the suspects could face up to 10 years in prison.
