Real star Cristiano Ronaldo out for three weeks
Mar 20, 2011, 15:25 GMT
Madrid - Spanish striker Cristiano Ronaldo will be out of action for up to three weeks with a pulled thigh muscle, Real Madrid said Sunday.
The injury is a recurrence of the injury in his left leg that kept him out for two weeks at the beginning of March.
Ronaldo, 26, insisted on playing in Wednesday's Champions League showdown against Lyon and in Saturday's Madrid derby against Atletico.
Real won both games but Ronaldo's contribution was minimal, and he did not look completely fit. Real coach Jose Mourinho has been criticized for allowing Ronaldo to play in almost every match this season.
He will miss Portugal's upcoming friendlies against Chile and Finland, as well as the April 2 league match at home to Sporting Gijon. In addition, he will be doubtful for the April 5 Champions League quarter-final first leg at home to Tottenham.
