Call centre agent loses job over "Jesus loves you" sign-off
Apr 20, 2011, 13:08 GMT
Berlin - A court in Germany on Wednesday in favour of a telesales company that fired an employee for ending all customer calls with the words, 'Jesus loves you.'
QVC, a US television shopping channel with branches in Germany, Britain and Japan laid off the religious 29-year-old man who had worked as a call-centre agent in early 2010.
The labour court initially ruled in favour of the employee, arguing that his right to free religious expression was more important than the company's entrepreneurial freedom.
But QVC challenged the verdict in a higher court.
