Real Madrid's Khedira expects to be out for rest of season
Apr 22, 2011, 19:01 GMT
Madrid - Sami Khedira of Real Madrid believes that he will be out for the remainder of the season after being injured during Real's cup final victory against Barcelona on Wednesday.
Khedira, 24, had to be replaced in extra-time by Ezequiel Garay.
On Thursday the German World Cup midfielder travelled to Munich for treatment, where doctors said he had torn a muscle.
'The season is finished for me,' Khedira told a German radio station.
Real coach Jose Mourinho disagreed with the midfielder though. 'It is absurd to say that he will not play again this season. We are hoping that he will be able to play again as soon as possible.'
Khedira will certainly miss Saturday's league match away to third- placed Valencia and the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals at home to Barcelona on April 27.
Khedira, who joined Real from VfB Stuttgart last July, is Real's only injury victim at the moment, now that Kaka, Gonzalo Higuain, Marcelo and Karim Benzema have all recovered fitness.
