Mexes, Taiwo beef up defence of champions AC Milan
May 10, 2011, 13:50 GMT
Rome - AC Milan have signed defenders Taye Taiwo and Philippe Mexes, ANSA news agency reported Tuesday quoting club vice-president Adriano Galliani.
'They are two defenders on whom we will rely a lot,' Galliani said ahead of an Italian Cup semi-final second leg in Palermo which follows a 2-2 draw in the first leg.
'We will also try to strengthen the team, but I am not giving names. I can tell that we will do something in defence. For the rest, the team is fine as it is. It is not a chance that we won the title.'
Taiwo, a 26-year-old mainstay with the Nigerian national team, joins Milan from 2010 French champions Olympique Lyonnais.
The arrival of Frenchman Mexes, 29, from Roma had unofficially been announced weeks ago.
