Sevilla decide to keep on-loan defender Caceres
May 31, 2011, 12:20 GMT
Madrid - Spanish giants Sevilla announced on Tuesday that they had decided to keep Uruguayan defender Martin Caceres, who had been on loan from Barcelona.
Caceres, 24, has signed a four-year contract with Sevilla.
An official announcement on the club's website on Tuesday read: 'Sevilla has decided to retain the services of this player, who has performed well this season, in spite of a few ups-and-downs and some injuries.'
The Uruguayan World Cup defender played in 25 matches last season for Sevilla, who finished fifth in La Liga.
Caceres was signed by Barca from Villarreal in 2008 but failed to impress coach Pep Guardiola. In the 2009/10 season he was loaned out to Juventus.
Sevilla have already signed Piotr Trochowski and Manu del Moral for next season, from SV Hamburg and Getafe. They are still looking for a coach to succeed Gregorio Manzano.
