Russia criticises US participation in Black Sea manoeuvres
Jun 12, 2011, 14:40 GMT
Moscow - Russia criticised the United States on Sunday for the participation of a US warship in the Ukraine's naval manoevres in the Black Sea.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said the US guided missile cruiser taking part has a key role in NATO's planned anti-missile defence system in Central Europe which Moscow is opposed to.
It said that the participation of the ship with the so-called Aegis defence system in the 'Sea Breeze' manoeuvres was proof that Washington was ignoring Russia's concerns.
Russia has threatened that a failure of talks with the NATO over the anti-missile defence issue it might reply with a military answer of its own.
