Sofia - Eight people were killed and 20 injured in Bulgaria early Wednesday morning when a bus crashed and caught fire, local media reported.
The bus crashed shortly after midnight on the Sofia-Burgas highway in central Bulgaria, near Plovdiv. Among the injured, two were in a coma, hospital sources in Plovdiv said.
Police were still investigating the cause of the accident.
In Bulgaria, a member of the European Union since 2007, media often refer to traffic as 'war on the roads.' There are about 1,000 traffic fatalities each year.
