Czech bus passengers escape bus minutes before train collision
Jun 18, 2011, 14:55 GMT
Prague - Passengers of a bus that stalled on a railway track in the Czech Republic managed to evacuate the vehicle less than two minutes before a train slammed into the bus, dragging it for some 30 metres.
Police said the bus had a flat tyre on the level crossing in the city of Chrast, near Plzen. Ninety seconds after the passengers evacuated, the Munich-bound train hit the bus.
Observers said it was a miracle that there were no serious injuries in the incident. The bus driver and a train passenger who was knocked over by the impact with the bus sustained minor injuries.
Train services on the route were stopped as crews cleared the wreckage.
