Jun 27, 2011, 12:44 GMT
Amman - Jordan and Italy signed an agreement Monday sanctioning cooperation in the fight against terrorism and other serious crimes, according to an official statement.
The deal was signed by Jordanian Interior Ministry Undersecretary Saad Manasir and the Italian ambassador in Amman, Frencesco Fransoni.
The accord provides for bilateral cooperation including the 'prompt exchange of information relating to the activities of terrorist groups and the techniques they use in their terrorist threats as well as in communication among themselves', the statement said.
In case of emergency, the agreement commits the two countries to exchange detailed information about terrorist acts and the identification of assailants.
'The signing of the agreement is part of the Jordanian government pattern of action that seeks to build up real partnerships with brotherly and friendly countries,' Manasir said during the signing ceremony.
Fransoni said the agreement also provides for cooperation in combating illegal migration, trafficking of human beings and other serious crimes.
