Germany's Merkel to spend private weekend on Polish coast
Jul 6, 2011, 11:36 GMT
Warsaw - German Chancellor Angela Merkel will pay a private visit to the Polish Baltic Coast with her husband for the weekend, a Polish presidential aid said Wednesday.
Merkel's visit on Saturday and Sunday will include a stop at the sea side resort town of Jurata. There she will also meet with President Bronislaw Komorowski at his residence, at the Polish leader's invitation.
She will also visit the city of Gdansk, where her mother was born in 1928.
Merkel last visited Poland last month to preside over a joint cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Donald Tusk. During that visit, Tusk said Polish-German relations should be an example for all of Europe.
German President Christian Wulff also paid a visit in April to the Baltic coast at Komorowski's invitation.
