Cinema to open in former Polish Communist party headquarters
Jul 18, 2011, 13:55 GMT
Warsaw - A conference room in the former Polish communist party headquarters has been converted into a small cinema that will show independent films and host lectures and film festivals, local media reported Monday.
The cinema will have its grand opening on Friday inside the social realist building in central Warsaw that once housed the Polish United Workers Party, which governed the country from 1948 until the fall of the Iron Curtain in 1989.
The cinema, which seats 138 people, will offer regular visitors a Communist 'party card' that will entitle them to discounts on film tickets.
It also plans showings for foreigners of new Polish films with English subtitles.
