World Cup winner Capdevila leaves Villarreal for Benfica
Jul 21, 2011, 12:26 GMT
Madrid - Left-back Joan Capdevila has joined Benfica from Spanish club Villarreal for a small undisclosed fee, the Portuguese side said Thursday.
Capdevila, 33, helped Spain to win the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2008.
He will be Benfica's fourth Spanish player, alongside Javi Garcia, Nolito and Roberto. His task will be to replace left-back Fabio Coentrao, sold two weeks ago to Real Madrid.
Benfica will be Capdevila's fifth club, after Espanyol, Atletico Madrid, Deportivo Coruna and Villarreal.
