Madrid - The father of up-and-coming Valencia star Paco Alcacer died early on Saturday, just minutes after seeing his son make his debut for the club.
The father, aged 48, suffered a massive heart attack when he was leaving Valencia's Estadio Mestalla early on Saturday. Doctors tried to revive him for half an hour but in vain.
He had just seen his 17-year-old son make a goal-scoring debut for Valencia in the 3-0 defeat of Italian team AS Roma, in the pre-season Trofeo Naranja.
Alcacer, 17, came off the bench and scored the third goal in the impressive win.
Alcacer is one of Spanish football's brightest prospects. He scored two dramatic late goals in the 3-2 victory of the Spain Under-19 team in the final of the European Championship against the Czech Republic in Romania two weeks ago.
