Granada take Ribeiro on free transfer
Aug 16, 2011, 11:18 GMT
Madrid - Newly-promoted Granada have signed Portuguese defensive midfielder Jorge Ribeiro on a free transfer, the Spanish club said Tuesday.
Ribeiro, 29, was loaned out last season by Benfica to Vitoria Guimaraes. He already knows the Spanish Liga, having played for Malaga five years ago.
He is the younger brother of former Portugal midfielder Maniche, who played in Spain for Atletico Madrid.
Ribeiro is the second Portuguese player to join Granada this summer, after Carlos Martins.
Granada have not been in the Spanish first division since 1976, and are expected to face a battle to avoid relegation given their severe financial problems.
