Reports: Mata poised to leave Valencia for Chelsea
Aug 19, 2011, 22:13 GMT
Madrid - Spanish giants Valencia have accepted an offer from Premier League club Chelsea for striker Juan Mata, according to media reports late on Friday.
These reports claimed that Valencia have agreed to sell the 23- year-old to Chelsea for around 28 million euros (40.2 million dollars).
Mata, a left-sided forward or winger, started his career in Real Madrid's nursery team, then moved on to Valencia in 2007, helping them to win the King's Cup in 2008.
He was part of the triumphant Spain squad at the 2010 World Cup.
Mata is the third star to be sold off by cash-strapped Valencia within a year, after the sales in 2010 of David Villa to Barcelona and of David Silva to Manchester City.
