Valencia announce sale of Mata to Chelsea

Madrid - Spanish giants Valencia announced on Sunday the sale of striker Juan Mata to Premier League club Chelsea.
According to media reports, Chelsea will pay around 28 million euros (40.3 million dollars) for the 23-year-old forward, who was a reserve for Spain at the 2010 World Cup.
Mata, a left-sided striker or winger, started his career at Real Madrid's Castilla nursery club then moved to Valencia in 2007, helping them to win the King's Cup in 2008.
He is the fifth Spanish international to be sold by Valencia since 2009, after Raul Albiol, Carlos Marchena, David Villa and David Silva, earning the club more than 100 million euros.
Valencia are still heavily in debt and unable to restart construction work on their new stadium, which was suspended in 2009 due to the club's financial problems.
