Lehmann loses damages claim in keeper row
Aug 25, 2011, 13:00 GMT
Munich - Former Germany goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has lost a claim for damages against current international Tim Wiese.
A court in Munich dismissed Thursday Lehmann's suit for 20,000 euros (28,850 dollars) in damages.
The former keeper, who played for Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Schalke and AC Milan, had claimed his personal rights had been infringed.
The civil claim had followed comments by Wiese who had been quoted by Bild daily as saying Lehmann 'should join the Muppet show' and 'belonged on the couch.'
The Werder Bremen keeper, who was in Germany's World Cup squad last year, had been responding to criticism by Lehmann on television of Wiese's performance in goal for Werder Bremen in a Champions League match.
Judge Harald Hernicht said Wiese's comments were 'not exemplary' but did not breach the law.
