Madrid - Roque Santa Cruz flew into Seville on Saturday to undergo medical checks and arrange his loan from Manchester City to Betis.
The tall Paraguayan striker, who has just turned 30, will be on loan at newly-promoted Betis for one season. Rayo Vallecano, another promoted team, were also interested in him.
Betis, who have been in the second division for two seasons, will make their league debut later on Saturday away to Granada. Santa Cruz will be eligible to make his first appearance for them on September 11 at home to Mallorca.
