Sep 4, 2011, 14:49 GMT
Athens - The Greek coast guard combed the waters off the coast of the Ionion island of Kefalonlia on Sunday for survivors after an inflatable raft carrying illegal migrants sank.
At least four people drowned while 12 migrants from Pakistan were rescued, after being found drifting at see, according to the merchant marine ministry.
The raft had experienced mechanical failure, the ministry said.
The ages and intended destination of the migrants were not immediately known.
Migrants regularly cross the Aegean and Ionion Sea into the European Union.
