Four terrorism suspects held in Sweden after art hall evacuation
Sep 11, 2011, 9:42 GMT
Stockholm - Four suspects have been arrested in the city of Gothenburg on terrorism charges, Swedish police said Sunday.
Concerns about a possible attack led authorities to clear an exhibition hall and make the arrests over the weekend.
The Sapo undercover police force would not release details of the case. A spokeswoman told the SR broadcaster that there were 'strong suspicions' against the four.
Police did confirm that the Road Sten exhibition hall in Gothenburg, Sweden's second-largest city, was evacuated around midnight 'due to a threat of serious danger for the lives and health of people, as well as complete destruction of the building.'
Media reports said several hundred people had gathered for the opening party of an international art biennial. All controls had been lifted by Sunday morning.
