Germany forward Miroslav Klose eyes 2014 World Cup
Oct 17, 2011, 8:46 GMT
Berlin - Germany striker Miroslav Klose wants to continue his national team career until the 2014 World Cup and retire afterwards, Kicker sports magazine reported on Monday.
It was the first time that Klose, 33, said that he wanted to play on for Germany after Euro 2012 in his birth country of Poland and Ukraine.
'If all goes well I will play at Lazio until 2014, then the World Cup, and then it's over,' Klose told Kicker. 'Everyone who knows my ambition knows that it (the World Cup) is tempting.'
Klose, 33, joined Lazio from Bayern Munich in summer and has been an instant hit at the Italian club. He scored an injury-time 2-1 winner on Sunday in the prestigious duel with Roma.
In the Germany team, the 112-times capped Klose has scored 62 goals, just six shy of the German record 68 from Gerd Mueller. The two are level at 14 goals at World Cups and Klose could attack Ronaldo's record 15 if he plays 2014 in Brazil.
