Rogue EU deputy pays tribute to Gaddafi's "glorious end"

Brussels - Moamer Gaddafi was 'a great leader, a true revolutionary,' a controversial European Parliament deputy said Thursday, reacting to the reported death of the ousted Libyan leader.
'The end of Gaddafi, who died fighting surrounded by his remaining loyalists, is undoubtedly a glorious one,' Mario Borghezio said in a statement.
Borghezio - notorious in Italy for his rabid anti-Muslim views - was suspended from the right-wing Northern League party after saying that some of the anti-immigration ideas of the man who killed 69 people in Norway in July were 'excellent.'
Gaddafi was 'a great leader, a true revolutionary who should not be confused with the new Libyan leadership swept into power by NATO's bayonets and by oil multinationals,' he continued.
The Italian EU lawmaker said he was 'among the few' to criticize the cozy relationship that his native country cultivated with Gaddafi, but that could not prevent him from recognizing that Gaddafi deserved 'chivalrous' respect as a 'Templar of Allah.'
