Oct 23, 2011, 11:52 GMT
Rome - A man thought to be mentally ill burned a Bible Sunday during a mass by Pope Benedict XVI's at Rome's St Peter's Square.
The man climbed up the square's columned entrance and lit the text while the pope delivered mass, Italy's Ansa news service reported.
Vatican police then cleared the plaza and talked the man down from his perch, arresting him thereafter. No injuries were reported.
Authorities were unable to deduce the man's motive, nor the means by which he was able to reach the arcade unnoticed.
