Nov 1, 2011, 10:04 GMT
Paris - Three people were killed in a fire triggered by a blast in a home in north-eastern France in the early hours of Tuesday, a local newspaper reported.
The blast took place shortly after 5 am (0400 GMT) in a two-storey building in the city of Mulhouse, around 100 kilometres south of Strasbourg, Dernieres Nouvelles d'Alsace (DNA) daily reported on its website.
Around 50 firefighters extinguished the flames.
Emergency workers found the bodies of a young man, a woman in her 40s and an elderly woman at the scene.
The cause of the explosion was unknown, but investigators suspected foul play after a neighbour saw a man fleeing the area after the blast, DNA reported.
Police were investigating the incident.
