Popular Bavarian brewery opens pub in Berlin
Nov 4, 2011, 16:52 GMT
Berlin - The popular Bavarian Hofbraeuhaus brewery on Friday inaugurated a pub in Berlin where it aims to serve 3,000 litres of its Hofbraeu beer daily.
Hofbraeu has been brewed in the Bavarian capital Munich for 400 years.
The new facility in Berlin lies in a building that used to serve as a large canteen in East Berlin before Germany's reunification.
The hall in Alexanderplatz, a main square popular with tourists, is decorated with the white and blue colors of the Bavarian flag and can seat up to 1,600 people. Staff are dressed in traditional Dirndl and Lederhosen.
The menu features sausages in every shape and size, as well as traditional Bavarian dishes such as pork knuckles and pretzels.
