LEAD: Vienna ice cream murder suspect probed for poisoning
Nov 16, 2011, 16:23 GMT
Vienna - Vienna prosecutors said Wednesday they are trying to find out whether a woman suspected of having shot two ex-partners and hiding them under her ice cream parlour also tried to poison one of them.
'The suspicion is based on the fact that she researched poisons on the internet,' said prosecution spokesman Thomas Vecsey, adding that a toxicologist would investigate the matter.
He said he had not yet received initial autopsy results and could not confirm a report by the weekly magazine News that one of the alleged victims of Goidsargi Estibaliz C had serious liver and kidney damage, which may have been caused by a toxic substance.
News quoted her lawyer as saying that the 33-year-old woman had bought toxic plant seeds last year because she was depressive and wanted to kill herself.
In June, workers found the dismembered remains of her former husband and former boyfriend cast in concrete in the cellar of the Vienna house where the woman operated an ice cream parlour.
The suspect, who is a dual Spanish and Mexican citizen, fled to Italy after the discovery, but was later extradited to Austria.
Austrian authorities said the woman told Italian police that she shot both men after they had mistreated her.
