Tehran - Iran's first nuclear power plant will become fully operational by February, state media reported Thursday.
Iran's atomic chief Fereydoun Abbasi said all technical problems at the plant in the southern Gulf port of Bushehr would be resolved by Iranian and Russian experts by February and the plant could then be fully launched.
Forty per cent of the 1,000-megawatt capacity of the plant was reportedly connected to the national energy grid in September.
Full capacity was scheduled to be reached this month but was delayed for technical reasons.
The plant is a joint project with Russia's state-run nuclear power corporation Rosatom,
The plant uses Russian-made fuel and its nuclear waste is to be returned to Russia.
Iran and Russia have granted the International Atomic Energy Agency full supervision of the joint plant.
