Moscow - The supreme court of the breakaway Georgian province South Ossetia on Tuesday annulled the victory of opposition candidate Alla Dzhiyoeva in presidential elections.
The court upheld a challenge filed by Kremlin favourite Anatoly Bibliov over the results of Sunday's election, according to an Interfax news agency report.
Meanwhile, thousands of demonstrators gathered in support of Dzhiyoeva, who ran on an anti-corruption platform, in the streets of the territorial capital Tskhinvali.
