Stockholm - Three men were charged Tuesday on suspicion of planning to murder a Swedish artist who generated controversy and outrage with his 2007 depiction of the Muslim prophet Mohammed as a dog.

The trio were arrested in September. Vilks has been under police protection following threats on his life.
