Hleb to leave Wolfsburg at end of year
Dec 13, 2011, 10:55 GMT
Wolfsburg, Germany - Alexander Hleb will leave VfL Wolfsburg at the end of the year, the German Bundesliga club said on Tuesday.
The 30-year-old is on loan from Barcelona, but his attempt to break through into the team have continuously been thwarted by injuries.
'We have reached an agreement that the loan deal will not be extended,' Wolfsburg said in a statement.
'That is very, very sad. I would have liked to have signed Hleb, but his ongoing injury problems have not made that possible,' Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath said.
Hleb said he was very disappointed. 'I was on a good way to regain my fitness and find my form again. This is very disappointing as I had big plans for my time in Germany,' the Belarussian said.
