Magath: Wolfsburg set sights on Rosicky, Olic
Dec 14, 2011, 13:40 GMT
Berlin - Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath, in an interview published on Wednesday, expressed interest in signing Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky and Bayern Munich forward Ivica Olic during the upcoming winter break.
Wolfsburg won the 2009 Bundesliga title under Magath but are going through difficult times, avoiding relegation in the last game of the past season and currently languishing in 14th place.
Magath, who returned to the club in March, told the Bild daily he wants to turn matters around by investing into 'quality and talent' in the January transfer window.
'He (Rosicky) is a good player, no question about it. He is fit. The top clubs were after him just a few years ago,' Magath said of the 31-year-old Czech playmaker Rosicky.
Looking at the Croatian international Olic, 32, Magath said: 'he could fit. As far as I understand it he wants a move. The Euro (2012) tournament in summer may be his last big tournament, that's why he wants to play (as a starter in a club) now.'
Olic has been toying with a move after not being first choice in Munich where coach Jupp Heynckes prefers Mario Gomez as the lone forward. Rosicky, in Germany at Borussia Dortmund before joining Arsenal in 2006, has been plagued by various injury setbacks.
