Dec 15, 2011, 9:19 GMT
New Delhi - Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday left for a three-day visit to Moscow where he is scheduled to hold talks with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
The two leaders were scheduled to discuss ties in the nuclear energy and hydrocarbons sector on Friday.
Key agreements in the defence, health and science, and technology fields were also expected to be signed during Singh's visit, Indian Foreign Ministry officials told reporters Wednesday.
Singh and Medvedev were expected to discuss recent protests in southern India over the Kudankulam nuclear power plant being built with Russian assistance.
Singh was also scheduled to meet with Russian Premier Vladimir Putin.
Before his departure, Singh said he would exchange views with the Russian leaders on the global economic crisis, the political developments in West Asia, the Gulf region and Afghanistan.
'The perspectives of our countries on these developments are marked by a high degree of convergence,' the Indian premier said in a statement.
