Dec 16, 2011, 16:36 GMT
Madrid - Windstorms on Friday killed a man and injured nine other people in Spain, officials said.
A 70-year-old man was killed when winds caused his house to partially collapse in Almansa in the south-east.
Seven people were injured in the Basque region by falling objects, opening doors, and in the collapse of scaffolding. Two people were hit by waves when walking at the seaside in the Basque port city of San Sebastian.
Winds uprooted trees and knocked over lorries, severing road links. Eighteen flights were cancelled at the airports of Bilbao, San Sebastian and Vigo.
Winds were blowing at up to 140 kilometres per hour.
