Italy austerity measures win final parliamentary nod

Rome - Italy's parliament on Thursday gave its final approval to a package of austerity measures proposed by the Mario Monti government with a vote of confidence in the upper house Senate.
The Senate voted 257 to 41 in favour of the technocratic government.
