Pope to deliver Christmas Day message
Dec 25, 2011, 8:49 GMT
Vatican City - Pope Benedict XVI was Sunday scheduled to deliver his traditional Christmas Day Urbi et Orbi message and blessing from the central loggia of St Peter's Basilica.
Late Saturday the leader of the world's more than 1.1 billion Catholics celebrated Christmas midnight Mass.
In his mass homily, Benedict stressed that to find God, humankind must shed its 'false' certainties and 'intellectual pride' and see in Jesus' humble birth a sign of hope for the world.
He also prayed that a 'ray of God's kindness' may shine on those who were forced to celebrate Christmas - which commemorates Jesus' birth in Bethlehem - in poverty, in suffering and as migrants.
