Greece to hold elections in late April
Dec 28, 2011, 2:35 GMT
Athens - Greece is to hold early parliamentary elections in April, a cabinet official said.
Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos, who is also deputy prime minister, made the announcement Tuesday at a meeting of the socialist PASOK party, Greek television reported.
'The elections will take place after Easter in late April,' he said.
Greece is currently ruled by the interim government of Prime Minister Lucas Papademos.
Papademos was formerly a vice president of the European Central Bank and the governor of the Bank of Greece, the debt-plagued country's central bank.
He became prime minister in November.
