Serbian police union ends strike after 16 days
Dec 28, 2011, 20:26 GMT
Belgrade - A Serbian police labour union ended a strike Wednesday evening after Interior Minister Ivica Dacic promised to hike police wages, TV B92 said.
A part of the police force went on a strike for a pay hike and better working conditions on December 12. It was the third police strike in 2011.
The effects of the stoppage were mostly limited to even longer queues of people waiting for documents in police stations.
Police asked for a monthly raise equaling around 130 dollars, but it was not clear whether the condition was met, as the strike-ending agreement was yet to be turned into a collective contract.
