Schalke midfielder Jones banned for eight weeks

Frankfurt - Schalke midfielder Jermaine Jones has been banned for eight weeks for deliberately stepping on the injured foot of Borussia Moenchengladbach's Marco Reus.
The ban, recommended Thursday by the German football federation's disciplinary panel, was accepted by the Bundesliga club.
The incident in a German cup game on December 21 was not seen by the referee but picked up by television cameras. Reus had just returned after recovering from a fractured toe.
The disciplinary panel said it was a serious case of unsporting conduct which warranted a suspension running to March 1, covering six league games.
Jones later apologized to Reus for his behaviour.
