Podolski still hopes for swift Bundesliga return
Jan 12, 2012, 9:54 GMT
Berlin - Cologne and Germany forward Lukas Podolski has not given up hope of recovering from a foot injury for next week's Bundesliga restart, but will only play if he is fully fit.
Podolski damaged a tendon in his left foot and is yet to resume training with the mid-table team at a camp in Portugal. Cologne play their first match after the winter break on January 21 at VfL Wolfsburg.
'Of course you leave the door open (for a return). (But) I can only help the team when I am fit,' said Podolski, who scored 14 goals in the first half of the season.
