Barcelona's Guardiola puts faith in youth during injury crisis
Jan 14, 2012, 15:18 GMT
Madrid - Pep Guardiola, coach of world champions Barcelona, said Saturday he preferred to solve the club's injury crisis with youngsters rather than new signings.
'I have a lot of confidence in the youngsters,' he said. 'I have said that many times. Besides, we don not have much money to spend.'
Guardiola's squad has been reduced to 15 fit players because of injury to Pedro, Andreu Fontas, David Villa and Ibrahim Afellay, plus Setdou Keita leaving to play for Mali in the African Nations Cup.
Guardiola made it clear he would use several youngsters from the Barca B second division nursery side in Sunday's league game at home to Betis, and in the upcoming cup quarter-final clashes against historic rivals Real madrid.
