Breno warned, not punished for critical statement on Bayern
Jan 17, 2012, 11:35 GMT
Munich - Brazilian defender Breno has received a yellow card from Bayern Munich after saying he was not treated well by the Bundesliga club, chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said on Tuesday.
Rummenigge said that Breno has apologised in a meeting Tuesday with coach Jupp Heynckes for a statement on his Twitter account that he felt messed around by Bayern after playing in their lower-league reserve team on the weekend.
'He has apologized to the coach and the team. The coach will take no further action ... (But) I would at least give him a light yellow card,' said Rummenigge.
Rummenigge said that Bayern will continue to support Breno despite the 'unnecessary Twitter statement' and added that the player 'can blame neither the coach nor the club.'
Breno is attempting a comeback from a long-term knee injury and is an arson suspect in connection with a fire in his house in autumn. He was detained for several weeks but later released on bail in the ongoing probe into the cause of the blaze.
