Two dead in Russian construction crane collapse
Jan 18, 2012, 11:30 GMT
Moscow - Two men died at a Moscow construction site on Wednesday after a 26-storey crane collapsed, the Ministry of Emergencies said in a statement.
The victims of the apparent accident in Moscow's suburban Odintsovo district were a crane operator and an assistant, the statement said.
The crash followed the collapse of a pair of construction cranes in Moscow's bedroom community of Podolsk on January 12. Three people were hospitalized in that incident.
Moscow's outlying regions are the scene of intense construction of office and residential space.
Critics of the construction boom say some construction companies put speed ahead of quality and safety.
